So, what does Rock Chalk Jayhawk mean, anyway? So cool that it was on the 20th anniversary of Manning's (et.al.) win. :) John was yelling at the officials for you since you couldn't see the game live. :)
Z is so cute. I love the dimples on his knuckles.

No blog. I'm not technologically advanced enough to have one. Besides, by the time my day ends, I'm pretty much incapable of coming up with anything clever or interesting!

However, I *do* have email: cdgatchell@comcast.net.

I really was thinking of you. Two of my boys were even rooting for Kansas (though I confess it was all about the bracket. They're really UNC fans.)

rock chalk jayhawk comes from this.....

in the late 1800s the school came up with the chant "rah rah Jayhawks"....just before 1900 one of the professors didnt like it and thought to include the saying "chalk rock" isntead of the "rah rah" part......of course chalk rock is limestone, which is the native kansas stone......

it was soon switched to "rock chalk jayhawk".

I found out around half time that I was partial to the Memphis Tigers. A part of that was the standout point guard, and since I played that position I always lean towards cheering for the PG I like best, but also because it was a tale of orthodoxy versus talent, execution versus brawn.

Playing the outside role in life teeters me in the direction of talent and brawn which was why I hoped that Memphis would win.

In the end, the orthodox, those schooled and gifted, bested an inconsistent ability to take the breath away. Sad for me although it reinforces the rules of life.

I wish I could find some respite in a castle somewhere... know of any in the upper midwest?

I think every one of the grandsons has cheered on the Jayhawks in that outfit. He's adorable! Charis and Grady have really enjoyed their postcards; thanks for thinking of them. BTW, happy anniversary!
